7.2.3. Check of falling of target tension of the generator

This check is necessary for an assessment of a condition of conducting from a conclusion "In" the generator to the plug (+) the storage battery (including a fusible insert).

Preparation for check
1. Transfer a key of the lock of ignition to the situation "OFF".

NOTE
For exact determination of malfunction of places of connections be convinced that at performance of check both conclusions or their connections are not disturbed.

2. Connect the digital voltmeter to a conclusion "In" the generator and the plug (+) the storage battery. Connect a wire (+) the voltmeter to a conclusion "In" the generator, and a wire (–) the voltmeter – to the plug (+) the storage battery.

Conditions of carrying out check
Read out voltmeter indications at the idling engine and included load of the generator (headlights of head light, the heater fan etc.).

Analysis of results
In norm the voltmeter should show rated voltage of 0,3 Century.
If power failure more than 0,3 in, the reason, most likely, is defect of conducting.

Check conducting from a conclusion "In" the generator through a fusible insert to the plug (+) the storage battery (fig. 7.10).
Check a condition of isolation of wires (lack of traces of an overheat) and contact in sockets. Eliminate defects, then repeat check.
After completion of check switch off everything consumers (headlights of head light, the heater fan etc.), then switch off ignition.
